Protest To End 3rd Party Exclusion

Protest To End 3rd Party Exclusion

Join with citizens from across the state as we protest the exclusion of 3rd party candidates from the national presidential debates. Recent polls show that 62% of Americans want to see a 3rd party candidate on the stage. Despite this, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) has opted to exclude any 3rd party candidates.

This protest is to take place at the Michigan State Capitol building on Monday, September 26, 2016.  Formal protest will begin at 4pm, with several state and federal 3rd party candidates and representatives present.  Lady Liberty will be leading our charge.

Many of us (62% of the American public) desire another real alternative and believe the qualifier for the debates should be placement on a “winnable” number of ballots (270 electoral votes).   We reject the idea that polling, which is susceptible to a lot of bias, should decide the stage for what is a primary source of many voter’s information on the candidates.

* Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party is now polling well above the arbitrary threshold of 15% in multiple states, and is on the ballot in all 50 states.
* Jill Stein of the Green Party is gaining a lot of momentum and is a balloted candidate in 45 states.
