Libertarian Candidate Excluded from Forum; League of Women Voters Withdraws

The League of Women Voters Withdrew from a forum scheduled at Saginaw Valley State University after Libertarians in Michigan advocated for candidate Ali Sledz to be included in the forum for the 35th District Senate Race.

Sadly, Saginaw Valley State University is the group making the decision for the forum, and they continue to insist that only the two party candidates participate in the forum.

Below is the letter received from the League of Women Voters:

Dear Kerry Morgan,

I am writing in response to your February 23 email to Paula Bowman regarding the 35th District Forum and the exclusion of the Libertarian candidate.

The League of Women Voters of the Saginaw Area and the League of Women Voters of the Midland Area have withdrawn their sponsorship of the forum hosted by Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU).

The League will not serve as a sponsor for any event that does not include all qualified candidates. We strongly believe that every candidate should have the opportunity to participate.

Please note that participation decisions are made by SVSU, which controls the format and invitation process for this event.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. Thank you.
