Libby Awards Committee Seeks Nominations, Volunteers

The 2026 Libby Awards will be presented  at dinner after the January 17th convention for the Libertarian Party of Michigan.

Recently, Scott Boman was appointed as Chair of the Libby Award Planning and Selection Committee. Angela Thornton, Michelle Gregoire, and Dana Carver volunteered to be members of the committee. The committee is seeking more members. Please email vcpoliticaldirector@michiganlp.org if you are interested.

The committee is also seeking nominations for the following “Defender of Liberty” awards. Please email vcpoliticaldirector@michiganlp.org to nominate someone for these awards:

Spokesperson for Liberty Award: To a member of the community whose patriotism and conviction have inspired contributions to the cause of liberty.

Promoter of Liberty Award: To a libertarian whose efforts have done the most to promote the Libertarian Party and Libertarian principles.

Producer of Liberty Award: To a dedicated, behind-the-scenes libertarian whose quiet labors over the years exemplifies the backbone of the Libertarian Party.

The Libby Award tradition has its roots in the 1993 Libertarian Week Banquet at which the Libertarian Party of Michigan presented the Freedom Fighter Award to famed “Medicide Doctor” Jack Kevorkian.

The Libby Awards were originally presented at a separate event, but they have now been incorporated into the Libertarian Party of Michigan’s convention. Click here for more information about the convention.
